How to verify motion graphics and video work
A reel is a few minutes of the best work someone chose to show. It is one of the hardest portfolio formats to verify, because the finished video says little about who made it.
What a reel cannot tell you
A video does not carry its project file. You cannot see the timeline, the effects stack or the version history from the export. So ask for a breakdown: layers, passes, and the original footage or assets.
Where it was published matters
Work that is published on a platform under the person's own account, with an upload date that fits their story, is a stronger signal than a file with no home. Check the channel, the date and the credits.
What Nexr checks, and what it does not
For video and motion work, Nexr reads stream metadata from the file or link, attributes the work to the platform it was published on (YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok and similar), and compares a visual signature against other work on Nexr to detect reuse.
Nexr does not open After Effects or other project files, so it cannot prove how a piece was built. Where that matters, ask for a breakdown.
Questions
Can Nexr verify an After Effects project?
Not yet. Nexr checks the published video: stream metadata, the platform it was published on, and whether it duplicates other work. It does not read project files.
How do you verify a motion designer's reel?
Ask for a breakdown or the original assets, check where and when it was published, and confirm the role with someone who worked on the project.
